Easy Chief
Falco’s got a band with his brothers and his cousin. It’s called Easy Chief. When anyone takes it too seriously they get a “whoa, easy chief.” This is our easy chief period. We’ve been taking it seriously, as we should, but now is our time to collectively give each other a massive “easy chief.” That is to say, it’s time to chill. Next year is...

Airports
You meet some great people in airports. Thanks for reminding me, Gus.
Manky
We’ve had a week like none other. Shows, parties, dental work, injuries, van problems, late arrivals, dark beer, photo shoots, work on Things That Fly…
More complete narrative will follow.
3 Nights With Railroad Earth
Tonight we start a three night run with Railroad Earth, one of the best touring bands on the scene. We’re opening for them in Brooklyn tonight, DC tomorrow and Philly on Saturday. RRE is super cool and we’re honored to be a part of this little family circus.
December TwitterTix
All this week we’re doing free tickets for our Twitter followers.
Gray
Nothing more gray than the first days of December in Tennessee. Days like this make it hard to get out of bed. Nice thing about it is that the transition to early darkness is almost welcome after a full day of absolute blah-ness. By January we’ll be used to it but the memories of fall burn too bright this first week of December. I can never decide if I’d rather be at home or on the...
December
First day of December. Gray, foggy skies down here by the Cumberland River. I know there’s some blue up there somewhere. The Band is headed to East Tennessee, Western and Central Virginia, D.C., Philly, and Brooklyn this week. I guess the Nor’Easter just keeps coming.
We’re sharing the bill with Railroad Earth the 10th-12th in D.C., Brooklyn, and Philly. We anticipate...

Headed Home
Mission accomplished. The White Torpedo is screaming west-bound on 40, Dr. Snacklisch at the wheel. Cracker Barrell stop in 10 minutes. Our friend and associate Emilee Warner is in the van today, we’re doin’ beers and getting a little more work done before the holiday. Emilee’s a badass, if you tweet, follow her @warnerblaster.
Time off. Ten days. Dec 4th we head out to finish...
Last night of the Tour
The Nor’Easter is coming to a close. All good things come to an end. Last night we filled up the Visulite in Charlotte, NC. This may be the prototype venue: standing room, tall seats, central bar, great sound and good people. Seems like every show at the Visulite is one of our best. After the show we headed down the street to the Double Door and got onstage with Yarn. Falco ripped some...
Nor'Easter Update
Nor’Easter Tour is on the home stretch, headed to Charlottesville tonight; expecting a big night at the newly remodeled Southern. This last week we’re doing shows with Sara Watkins and so far it’s been really amazing. Sara and her band are great. She’s continuing to evolve as an artist and it’s really inspiring to see her doing her own thing, they way she wants to do...

Ida Catches Up
We’ve been moving north all week, staying ahead of the storm, but she finally caught up with us. We were planning to go hang out near Dartmouth, hit some of Panda’s old haunts from his hard partying college days, but the rain’s put a serious damper on that. I think the new plan is to catch a leisurely breakfast then find a place to rehearse, try to work up some new tunes.
The...
Boston!
Rolling hot into Boston tonight. The White Torpedo pulls out of Newark Airport in 10 minutes. Johnny D’s tonight, Sarah Jarosz opens the show solo. It’ll be a damn good night.
Brooklyn tonight
Everyone knows someone in NYC. Call them up and let them know the Dusters take the stage at 9pm at the Bell House. It’s just off the F Train, 9th street stop. Storms opens at 8pm, doors at 7, happy hour till then…
Another Day Off
Brooklyn tomorrow night. Spread the word, spread it thick. We’re gonna slay it. Storms opens.
11.7.09 Mexicali Live on Archive.org
The first live recording of the tour is up on Archive.org. We’re still making our music free and easy and this is the latest offering from the taper fanbase. It was recorded last Saturday at Mexicali Live and features a little Tony Trishka on the banjo as well as his band on a couple tunes. Click HERE to check it out, you can stream or download.
Two cheeseburgers
No matter where you stand, you have to agree that a man doesn’t need two half lb. cheeseburgers with fries and onion rings for lunch. If I could take a picture I would. Personal responsibility, people; stop killing yourselves.
Nor'Easter Week One
First week is in the books. Every show was better than the last. We’ve got two days off on Long Island; Andy Hall is headed back to Nashville for a session, some of the guys are going out on Cresty’s brothers boat to get some fishing done. Pandolfi’s headed back to Brooklyn; Jeremy, Becker and I are headed into Manhattan today to do who knows what. Subway schedules are...

Today on the Nor'Easter Tour
Headed into the Capitol today for some radio and TV. We’ll drop Panda off at WJLA for Doug MckElway’s noon show. I think he’ll be playing some banjo live with Doug. The rest of the band is headed to WAMU to do live interview at 1pmish. After that we’re doing some food in D.C. then heading over to Baltimore for the 8x10 tonight. Doors are at 8pm, tickets are $12. ...

Nor'Easter In Full Effect!!!!
We’re on it, we’re in it, it’s happening and it’s good. Purcellville, VA tonight. 8X10 in Baltimore tomorrow then Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ on Friday. The evenings are short, you’re not missing anything on TV (at least you wont be after this World Series wraps up), so come on out and get down! We’re playing a mess of dates and won’t be back to the...

Nor'Easter on the horizon
I’m perched atop the couch in our co-producers studio listening to my wife put the finishing vocal touches on a song we wrote. Killer. Today is another beautiful day in Nashvegas, 70 degrees and sunny. Woke up early and cleaned the mud off my bike, ate eggs and watermelon then rode for 3.5 hours with my man Jeremy (Dixie Beeliners). It’s all music this afternoon until the Broncos make...

Weak Coffee
Why even fire up the coffee maker if you’re just going to brew up some coffee flavored tea swill. What a waste of free trade coffee. Across the world, someone went to the trouble of growing and caring for those beans, someone arranged for them to be paid market value, then roasted them with utmost care. A truck drove them across country, the power plant generated the power to run the grinder...

Live, Free: Dusters @ Albino Skunk last weekend →
Dedicated tapers have already uploaded the show from last weekend at Albino Skunk. I haven’t heard it, and we were partying pretty hard, but this just might be the greatest ‘Dusters set ever. No setlist listed yet, so get on there and help them figure it out.
Shannon Whitworth
is fabulous. Watched her and her band ramble through a beautiful set last night at the Albino Skunk Festival. The sound is like moody, indie-roots country. Upright bass keeps it grounded but pedal steel, telecaster and sultry vocals allow the music to soar. She’s also managed to continually write songs that make me feel something; songs that sound like what they say; songs that make me put...

Two Man Gentleman Band
Last night we descended on The Pour House in Charleston, SC. We didn’t go on until 11pm so we occupied ourselves at the Cuban place next door. Tiny cups of devastating coffee and massive plates of Cuban pork and rice & beans. Fantastic. Two Man Gentleman Band went on at 10. These guys are awesome. Unique, entertaining, funny, drinking songs and musical… they’ve got it all....
Do You Have Any Idea Who I Am?
United Airlines Agent at Gate 14 in the Denver International Airport:
A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of iconvenienced travelers. Suddenly, an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said, “I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS.” The agent replied,...

Next Big Nashville
Been NBNingit up all week. Lost the Nashville Music Awards best bluegrass album award but my wife Sarah Siskind won best Americana album. Watched Ten out of Ten’s last show at the Cannery Ballroom and hung briefly with Alison Krauss; she was all over the scene apparently sitting in with Jeremy Lister on Friday night. Thursday we all headed down to the Victor Wooten Music Camp, played some...
Nashville Music Awards
The big anouncement is tonight. We’re up for Bluegrass Album of the Year for last years self titled release. The ceremony is right before the final show for 10 out of Tenn, so we’ll be sticking around to do beers and cheers for the TOT’s. We’ve heard it’s a great show and our favorite, Sarah Siskind, is front and center of the circus.
There’s a lot of big...

IBMA Awards
Last night we all got gussied up (except Falco who wore jeans, Chuck Taylors and an I Love New York T-Shirt under a sport coat) and headed to the Ryman for the IBMA Awards. We were up for Instrumental Band of the Year and Andy Hall was up for Dobro Player of the Year. We didn’t win either but Micheal Cleveland and his band won a bunch of stuff and they deserve it, they are incredible and...
