Last night
Those of you whose are worried the Dusters may stray too far from their roots will be happy to know we tracked a tune last night that is the fastest, most rippin’ bluegrass tune we’ve ever recorded… the wheels were comin’ off!! Andy Hall absolutely destroyed it on his live take. If he doesn’t win IBMA Dobro Player of the Year, Pandolfi’s vowed to go Kanye on...

Decemberists
So a few months ago I was hearing alot about this new record from the Decemberists called The Hazards of Love. I downloaded it and loved it. Last night we got the opportunity to check them out at the Pavilion in Charlottesville and it was very cool. They played the record top to bottom for the first set then rambled through their hits for the second set culminating in the lead singer, Colin Meloy...

Record
Back in the White Torpedo after an especially irritating trip back from Winfield (which was kickass by the way). This time headed to Charlottesville for eight days to work on the next Dusters recorded music statement (to be referred to as “record”). The songs on this record are the result and by-product of the last two years of touring and though most of them were written either solo...

Easing Into The Weekend
Loaded on the bus a half hour ago, headed for St. Louis and Off Broadway tonight. Feels good to sit on some leather and watch TV and surf the Internet. In a few minutes I’ll crawl up in the bunk, put in some earplugs and doze off. The AMA’s were going on last night in Nashville, we took in a few shows; Bearfoot and Sarah Siskind. I sang three songs with Sarah down at the Basement....

Rehearsals Continue
The next stage of the evolution of our new record happens today.  We’ll be at our engineer/producer’s studio in West Nashville recording “roughs” of most, if not all of our 27 songs.  The idea is to get some context, find a common thread and figure out what’s best.  Not an easy task, but today’s work is relatively simple; we’ll just stand in a circle and...

Colorado Getaway
Gigs come and go, days pass like water under the bridge and blur together as the miles roll under the tires, but there are always those days, those shows that stand out like a hippy at a NASCAR race. 4 Corners Folk Festival is that hippy. No other place feels more like home than Reservoir Hill. Thanks to Dan and Crista, Steve in the merch tent, Amy and Mary Jo cooking up the headiest backstage...

The view...
Just realized I blogged the same view two days in a row. That’s an indication of what our scene is like here in paradise. The Bills are on, Tim O’Brien comes on for sunset. Hotsprings tonight. Casey Driesen is accosting me. Jake and Eamon from The Greencards are shredding a Tim O song while Tim sits eating a few feet away.
