Shannon Whitworth
is fabulous. Watched her and her band ramble through a beautiful set last night at the Albino Skunk Festival. The sound is like moody, indie-roots country. Upright bass keeps it grounded but pedal steel, telecaster and sultry vocals allow the music to soar. She’s also managed to continually write songs that make me feel something; songs that sound like what they say; songs that make me put down the ‘shine and go streaking from the backstage to the front at the first hint of melody. There’s not a lot of music that makes me do that these days. Humble, down-to-earth, calm, funny and beautiful; it’s small wonder everyone seems to have a crush on Shannon. www.shannonwhitworth.net
